Governor Juice Laboso has passed on today while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
On May 29, Governor Laboso left the country to Britain for medication. She was admitted at Royal Madden NHS hospital where she underwent treatment for nearly a month.
She was transferred to India for further treatment three weeks ago.
While in London, NASA leader Raila Odinga and Ambassador Manoah Espisu, Chief Justice David Maraga and Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony visited her.
Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto also visited her.
After a month and a half of medical treatment in India and Britain, Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso came back to the country on Sunday, July 14.
Before flying out to the UK for treatment, Dr Laboso had kept a low profile for a month, skipped key public functions and delegated duties to her deputy and county executive committee members (CECs), raising speculations.
Deputy Governor Hillary Barcho and County Secretary Evalyne Rono have been steering the county affairs for the last two months in the absence of Dr Laboso after she delegated power through an executive order before she left the country.
After being in ICU for a week, she finally succumbed to cancer on Monday afternoon. According to the family, the 58 years old governor was suffering from cancer for a while now.
