On Saturday afternoon Ministry of Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi announced during the daily National Emergency Response Team briefing on Covid-19 that Kenya has recorded only two new infections in the last 24 hrs.
Of the 491 samples tested in the last 24hrs, only two cases turned positive. One of the patients is a Kenyan National while the other one is a foreign national.
The ages for the two are 2yrs and 32 years old. None of the two cases has had any history of travel according to CAS Dr.Mercy Mwangangi.
This now brings the total of positive cases in Kenya to 191.
In addition, Mwangangi, reported that for the last 24 hrs, the country had registered two more recoveries bringing the total of registered recoveries to 24. This is a first one for Kenya to register an equal number of positive case to that of recoveries. On friday, however, Kenya recorded a higher number of recoveries as compared to the number of infections.
There were no new cases of death reported in the last 24 hrs from the Coronavirus. The number therefore remains at 7 deaths.
In a bid to control the spread of the virus, Mwangangi said the government was still acquiring new PPE for the medical staff. She added that 300,000 LITERS of sanitisers had been produced and released to Council of Governors for distribution.
Out those infected, 109 are male and 82 are female. Mwangangi claimed that the coming three weeks will be vital for Kenya in the fight against the coronavirus. she asked kenyans to continue following the government directives on social distancing and general hygiene practices.
