Charles Njagua Kanyi, better known by his stage name Jaguar, angered Tanzanian’s after he made inciting remarks when addressing the Nyamakima and Marikiti traders. Jaguar has given the government an ultimatum to chase away Tanzanians who were engaging in trading at the expense of the locals.
This saw the musician now turned politician locked for 7 days for incitement. Jaguar, as he is popularly known, appeared before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the said offense. He is currently out on 500,000 cash bail. The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) as well as the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) are among those who are set to testify against the legislator.
On Saturday, while addressing a function in Nairobi, Jaguar said that he still holds his earlier pronouncemnent regarding foreigners influx in the city. He further claimed that he is pained by the high level of youths unemployment.
However, concerning the Tanzanians, Jaguar said that he loves so much. He added that he had a child in Tanzania.
”mimi napenda Watanzania sana…hata niko na mtoto huku…mimi nasema ukweli. Niko na familia huko” the Mp said amid cheers from the crowd.
Jaguar took a conciliatory tone and appealed to the CAS present to apologize on his behalf to the Tanzania Government for him to be allowed to go and see his family.
”lakini vile kulikuwa na hii maneno (incitement case) singeweza kuvuka Tanzania. Na sasa juu nimeona tuko na CAS hapa, ningetaka aniombee msamaha ndo niende nikaone familia huko Tanzania” the Mp added.

The inflammatory utterances by Jaguar were so serious that they were discussed by the Tanzanian parliament. Diplomatic relations between Kenya and Tanzania were threatened that President Uhuru Kenyatta had to travel to Tanzania on his personal capacity to iron issues with his counterpart J. Magufuli.
