Former Kameme FM News presenter, Moses Kanyira has explained why he was fired from Kameme.
The presenter who doubled up as News presenter and sports journalist, accused an unnamed individual for his frustrations.
Media max early last week laid off over 150 staff over what they claimed was cutting HR expenses. Most of those affected were Video editors, Deejays and News anchors.
In Kameme FM and Tv, over 50 staff have been laid off. Among those axed are John Gicheha alias Man Nyari, P.K. Karitei, Keziah Kariuki, Dj Chris stylus, Muthoni wa Cephas, Rachael wa Kuria, Jeff Njoroge, Dj Qaris among others.
It is not the first time Moses Kanyira has been fired from the station. Early 2018, Kanyira was fired and only reinstated after massive public outcry.
This time, Kanyira claims that an individual approached him a day before he was fired. The individual told him that he had been writing bad things about BBI and it would cost him. The individual further told him that the instructions from the president were that he be fired for his stand against BBI.
In an open letter to the president, Moses Kanyira, expressed his dissatisfaction with the punishment given that he had supported the president in all his projects.
Kanyira is credited with coining the term “Kumira kumira”, which was used to mobilize voters during the 2017 elections. Further, the Tetu born presenter was the champion of the war on illicit brews. He was nicknamed “gitungati” due to his robinhood charisma in ending the menace in Mt Mt Kenya region.
Mediamax which was initially owned by the president, was heavily pivotal in Uhuru’s reelection especially Kameme Fm which has a fanatical followership in Mt Kenya.
