Quit the Handshake if Unsatisfied-David Murathe Dares Raila

That the handshake is not as strong as it was is no longer a secret. What started as shadow boxing has become a jabs exchange with specific targets.

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe has fired the first salvo urging the ODM leader Raila Odinga and his party to quit the handshake if not satisfied with the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta in what has been seen as the beginning of an end to the handshake.

Murathe’s remarks follows a row over changes in parliamentary committees. The committee seats at the centre of disagreement were left vacant after legislators allied tp Deputy president William Ruto were dewhipped from them.

At the center of contention, are positions in the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee and that of Delegated Legislation –both formerly held by Ruto’s ally.

ODM has fronted Otiende Omolo to chair the JLAC ,a move that was blatantly rejected by President Uhuru.

A consultation between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga on phone failed to reach an agreement after the former reportedly told Raila to accept the list as it or ship out.

Hours later, David Murathe who is believed to be Uhuru’s unofficial spokesperson dared ODM to bolt out of the handshake if unsatisfied.

“There is no room for further consultation. As for the ODM, we are doing them a favor by accommodating them in committee leadership posts. They cannot come and make demands telling us who to include. That’s our business and its concluded”, he said

According to various sources , ODM is reportedly getting impatient with the handshake and may be using the committee changes to test Uhuru’s commitment.

The party has threatened to reject the list on the floor of the house.

‘We felt that with such membership, we will not be assured that this handshake will hold”, Mbadi remarked
